the world
(images to come)

time period

The world setting for modern technology is roughly around the 1980's. Things are as far along as arcade machines, but no personal computers / internet exists.

In some areas (particularly elven cities) civilians utilize magic instead of technology. These places are usually far away from cities that use technology. There may also be some cities that use older technology but in highly skilled ways (such as a dwarven city built on steam machinery, pulley systems, etc.) . Because the world mixes harvest moon and rune factory, it has both typical towns/cities and those that are more fantastical.

Towns located in-between tend to have a little bit of everything.

history

The world has no set historical events. However, in the immediate past (last 500 years) there have been no major events (large scale wars, mass outbreaks of diseases, and so on).

All kinds of people, faiths, and cultures exist. The Harvest Goddess is the universally accepted deity (or at least, most would claim).

climate

Toffee Town is located in the mountains and has typical weather for a mountain town- four seasons with warm summers and cold winters. The port area (Biscotti Beach) is warmer in the summer than Toffee Town itself (and likewise, it's not as cold in the winter). Seasonal storms and lots of snow in the winter is normal.

in town
In town areas are within walking distance for Toffee Town residents. Most of the shops are in town. Each year in spring flowerbeds are planted during the sowing festival.

toffee town
The main blocks of town. South Toffee Town is the residential area.

north toffee town

shops: toffee town hall, parfait post, eclair station, nougat news
One usually goes to North Toffee Town to attend festivals- the town square is located in front of town hall and the news station. There is a single phone booth located outside of town hall for making emergency calls (when mail just isn't fast enough). The station and train platform is up the hill from the other buildings. As the post office handles shipments, it is situated close by.

east toffee town

shops: tiramisu teahouse, buttermilk bathhouse, bonbon bakery
East Toffee Town is a quiet refuge from the hustle and bustle of the central market. Restore some energy by having some tea and baked goods, or relax with a nice bath.

central toffee town

shops: almond inn (butterscotch bistro / velvet lounge), gumdrop general store, lacabòn library, caramel clinic, chocolatier chapel
The busiest section of Toffee Town, Central Toffee Town has all the main amenities. Everything is a short walk from the inn where visitors are usually situated.

west toffee town

shops: tapioca tailors, gelato gemstones, soda salon
The aesthetic shopping street as one might call it, West Toffee Town has the shops needed to stay up to date with the latest trends. The rest area in this block has a fountain which is a good meeting place.

other areas
Major areas outside of Toffee Town but still within walking distance. There are residential districts in Flan Forest and Lemon Lake.

raspberry river

A river that flows through town into Lemon Lake and continues to Flan Forest and eventually the sea. There are several bridges that go over this river in various areas that make great fishing spots!

lemon lake
shops: rocky road ranch, floating isle fishery, puff-puff pet mart
A large lake that expands out of town. The area around the lake is refreshing, and a good spot for raising animals. The lake freezes over in the winter, allowing one to reach the cave in the center of the lake without a boat. Lemon Lake Cavern supposedly houses rare, unique fish (of the monstrous variety) in the deeper levels, but the critters that live within makes spelunking dangerous.

flan forest
shops: cannoli carpentry, fruitcake farm, bourbon blooms, vanilla vineyard
A woodland safe for most hikes leading into the eastern mountains. You can find all sorts of animals that have made their homes in the forest. The soil within and around the forest is particularly good for growing plants. The Goddess Spring and Goddess Garden (a cave behind the springs) are a short walk from the entrance of the forest (along a marked path). It's said that the spirit of the Harvest Goddess sleeps there, but a lot of places in the world also make such claims, so who knows?

waffle woods
shops: soufflé smithy, ambrosia alchemy / sundae sorcery
The deeper and darker woods of Toffee Town, monsters live here. A good place for those seeking adventure as many secrets await those brave enough to discover them. Be well prepared for a dangerous trek. The forest continues onward to the western mountains where larger creatures sleep...

out of town
Out of town areas require other methods to reach. There are three main methods of travel at this time: the train, the ferry, and the warp sites.

train destinations
The town's train is the Eclair Express. Tickets for the train may be purchased at the station. The train makes regular trips out of town to shuttle passengers and shipments.

fortune fairgrounds
time to destination: 2 hours
A recently revitalized fairground that is open weekends from 10:00 - 20:00. It has rides, attractions, games, food stalls, and a souvenir shop with unique gifts! The owner is a ringmaster and the circus does a show daily at 14:00. The fairground is open all week during the summer. Train tickets to the fairground include admission. Some events and firework shows are hosted here as well.

coffee town
time to destination: 4 hours
A small farm settlement beside a large river that serves as a pitstop between Citrus City and Toffee Town. The drawbridge that allows the train to cross the river is occasionally raised for boats to pass. Beside the train station is a famous cafe which specializes in eggs treats.

citrus city
time to destination: 8 hours
To the west is the largest city in Cocoa County, Citrus City. It has everything that Toffee Town has and more: hotels, hospitals, restaurants, spas, malls, parks, airports, corporations, and more! Its civilians use little magic and depend mostly on technology (it's a pretty typical human city). A day trip to Citrus City will usually solve any problems you might be having in Toffee Town. The train for the city usually departs in the late night / early mornings so guests arrive right when shops open.

warp points
Unusual warp points that are uncovered as part of the ongoing story. Atop each warp is a beam of light that reaches far into the sky (makes for a nice beacon at night!). Simply walking through the light will take the user to their new destination instantly.

biscotti beach

shops: sherbet seasonal house (key lime cove), macaron mines
The warp is accessible from the outskirts of town and is close to Lemon Lake. Biscotti Beach is Toffee Town's port village far to the south and the place the Panna Cotta ferry is docked. The resort house here is pirate themed, and is quite popular with tourists in the summer when the beach is open and events are taking place. There is an active lighthouse to the cliffs just east of the village. Beside the seasonal house is a mine filled with ores and jewels, and even bigger riches in the dangerous levels far below.

wooly island

The warp is accessible from a room within the mines (follow the marked path and cross the bridge over the pool of water). Wooly Island is a peaceful place with year-round mild, spring weather. The island is covered by a large forest and the largest tree in the forest is home to the island's main residents, the woolies.

Once assisted by the Toffee Town villagers, these monsters are friendly and will not attack those who visit (so you should not attack them either). They say if you try to travel away from the island by boat, you always end up back to the island somehow.

oasis sanctuary

Accessible from a clearing in Waffle Woods (follow the marked path), the Oasis Sanctuary is a small desert town. It is built around an oasis (as one might expect) and surrounded by walls to keep the harsh winds and sandstorms away. The sacred tower within these walls reaches far into the sky.

The residents here worship someone known as the Harvest God and once a dragon was seen taking flight from the top of the tower. The residents of this town are all hybrids, and while they are skeptical of humans, they've become a bit better as of late. Like Wooly Island, trying to walk away from the sanctuary will bring you back to its gates. Nobody knows why...
