The gold system is used to quantify your level of activity. It is used to purchase housing, marketplace items, job changes, and additional characters. If none of those interest you, then it becomes an entirely optional system.

The rates are experimental and may be updated as time goes on.

art submissions
Small art submissions do not require the gold calculation to be written on the submission. However, for large pieces / image dumps, try to submit them using deviantart / sta.sh so that information can be included. For image dumps, each image should be numbered and matched in the artist comments with the respective gold calculation. This is to make things more simple for the approval process. Your submission may be rejected if you do not do this.

If there are multiple artists (collaborations), the total amount of gold earned must be divided by the number of collaborators (rounded down to the nearest factor of 25). This does not apply to quest / event bonuses! For instance, if two users collaborated on an image that earns 800 G and the event bonus was 200 G, both users would earn 400 + 200 = 600 G.

Art submissions are broken up into several categories, split between chibi and non-chibi. Chibis are typically 2 - 4 heads tall with exaggerated proportions. Non-chibi drawings earn double the amount of gold that chibi drawings earn.

Waist can be used even if only half the torso is drawn as long as both arms are visible.
Fullbody can be used as long as the body is at least visible up to past the knees.

In the case that the image is somewhere in-between (ie headshot with one arm) you may adjust the gold value to make it work.

Types of Lines
  • rough sketch
Quick drawings that are not particularly refined (guidelines visible, lots of parts not well defined).
  • refined sketch
Either a refined sketch with some areas still rough / not rendered or the character has been greatly simplified (reduced detail).
  • lineart
The character is drawn normally and everything has been rendered. Some stray lines are OK as long as it looks polished.

Types of Color
  • simple color
Either flat colored (monochromatic is OK as long as multiple shades are used) or lightly/partially shaded.
  • detailed color
    Fully shaded. Monochromatic is OK.

Most fully rendered submissions will fall under detailed line / detailed color. Since you make the call, pick what you think is fair.

Backgrounds / Props

Because it's so difficult to quantify backgrounds (as with most art, but let's leave that for another day), background gold is earned via how complex you believe it is, relative to your work and time spent. There is no set range that a background can be.

A background with only a pattern, or is mostly stamp type brushes would sit on the lower end of the spectrum (25 - 100) while a fully rendered scene with lots of details would sit on the upper end. A detailed background might include buildings, rendered background characters (that do not count for character gold), lots of props, etc. Try to quantify it relative to the character art. Is this background about the amount of effort you put into a fully coloured character? Then, 900-1000G. Same effort as a detailed, fully rendered chibi? 450-600 G. And so on.

As this is an honour system, whatever you put will generally be accepted as is, and therefore will vary from person to person. However, if you are believed to be cheating the system (ie a solid background with a few props but marked for the highest amount of gold), you may get it adjusted down.

If recycling an image (for instance, drawing clothes over a base), the additional clothes can be counted as background gold (evaluate according to how much you had to redraw). The amount should be less than the gold of the original image. Images that are almost identical (just copy/paste with minor changes) do not count for additional gold.

For pieces with multiple backgrounds such as comics, try to group simple backgrounds. More complex backgrounds can be counted separately. This doesn't apply to image compilations.

Other

Pets can generally be counted as chibis. Whether it counts as simple or detailed depends on the detail of the animal. Background characters in submissions with reduced details can either count as simple chibi or simple non-chibi.

Lineless / painted art just goes in whatever category you feel fits (dependent on how much is rendered). Tones (for comics) can also go into whichever category you think fits more.

Animations earn normal gold per each unique frame. If the frame is mostly the same image with small edits (ie. a wagging tail), it will not count as a unique frame. In that case, you can apply a bonus instead.

text submissions
These are not limited to roleplay logs. Short stories about your characters, poetry, and code all count as text submissions. Headcanons are acceptable as text submissions if they read like a story or a roleplay log.

If there are multiple writers (roleplays), the total word count must be divided by the number of contributors. Gold for text submissions is rounded down to the nearest multiple of 25. The word count and contributors must be present at the top of the submission (your calculation is also helpful, but not required). The submission must meet the minimum word count (if there is one).

If you are struggling with the calculation, please try using the roleplay gold calculator.

bonuses
Bonuses are available for event and quest submissions. What the bonus is applicable to and the amount will be written on the respective event journal.

Furthermore, if you submit something that does not fall into a standard submission category (animation, youtube video, game), you can apply the bonus gold as you deem fit (based on effort).

how to submit
Submissions must be worksafe.

To collect any gold, submitting to the gallery is not sufficient (in fact, you do not have to submit anything to the gallery). You must input your submissions via the website form. Please make sure to read the website guide for details.

There may be times where you are given bonus gold for winning a game during an event. In this case, the admin will add it to your list for you.

The admin has the final say on the amount of gold a submission earns. The amount collected is not final until it is approved and appears on your list of submissions on the site.
